The Painter Behind the Pinch
Twenty-plus years at the easel, trained in the slow, layered Old Masters way — glaze over glaze until the light comes up from underneath. I painted crabs for seventeen years before I figured out the crab was a self-portrait. New Orleans does that to a fella: hands you a claw and calls it a mirror.
The gallery below is everything that came before, beside, and around the Freedom Crab — the studies, the commissions, the pets immortalized in oil, and the videos that show what these crabs really look like riding raw birchwood in the light.
